“A Clear Shot” – the true story of the largest hostage siege ever in the US!

I always loved hostage drama movies or TV shows, and “A Clear Shot” is a good one, that keeps you “on the edge of your seat” with a true story of the 1991 Good Guys Electronics Store siege in Sacramento, California, the largest hostage siege negotiation ever attempted in the United States, with 40 innocent people taken hostage by 4 young men. This film starts out as an electronic store erupts into chaos as four gunmen storm the premises.

I first interviewed Mario Van Peebles back in 1995, in Dallas, Texas when he was at the VSDA convention, and as he has always done, he again does a great acting job as the lead in this movie in the role of Rick Gomez, a Sacramento Police Departments’ top negotiator, who realizes he needs to talk down the gunmen and keep everyone safe, all while juggling government politics. The gunmen leader doesn’t want to hurt anyone, but his brother is a different story. A peaceful surrender quickly turns this sleepy city into a national tragedy.

In this movie Mario stars in this movie with his own son- Mandela – who looks like an exact younger version copy of his father, and just as good of an actor.

A Clear Shot examines a bizarre turn of events as law enforcement attempt to save the hostages, as well the emotional trials and social pressures of immigrant assimilation into the American culture. This is a “must see” movie that comes to DVD and Digital June 2 from Uncork’d Entertainment.

From writer-director Nick Leisure, and starring Mario Van Peebles (New Jack City, Posse), Mandela Van Peebles (Jigsaw), Jessica Meza (“General Hospital”), David Fernandez Jr (End of Watch), Marshal Hilton (Echoes of Fear), and Glenn Plummer (“Sons of Anarchy”).
