On Day 4 at the American Film Market I was able to find a great discovery of a new movie called “Hide Me Within Your Wounds.” It is a supernatural thriller blending psychological horror with spiritual drama. Set in the isolated Hindu Kush, the film mixes religious mysticism, dark conspiracy, and supernatural vengeance to deliver an intense, atmospheric, and deeply emotional experience. The TARGET AUDIENCE is for fans of supernatural thrillers, elevated psychological horror, and faith-driven conflict. Ideal for viewers who seek tension, mystery, spiritual intrigue, and character-rich storytelling. Designed for mature audiences who prefer thought-provoking, edge-of-the-seat narratives. It is about a grieving nun who uncovers a demonic conspiracy behind a Talibani attack on a remote convent, triggering a supernatural battle between the living, the dead, and the forces of evil.

In the remote, snow-buried heights of the Hindu Kush, a Catholic convent stands as a sanctuary of peace—until it becomes the site of a brutal massacre. On the night American troops withdraw from Afghanistan, Talibani militants storm the convent, killing nuns and villagers in horrific fashion. The world calls it political violence.

But Sr. Agnes, shattered by the murder of her cousin Sr. Sophie, senses something deeper. Her search for the truth reveals a far darker design: the attack was a smokescreen for a demonic plot orchestrated by Eduardo, a man who hides behind ordinary identities—a janitor, a gentle yoga instructor—while secretly serving his infernal mistress. Eduardo has used forbidden kundalini rituals to manipulate the living and the dead, extracting a sacred vessel hidden within the convent. But the plan fractures. Survivors rise. Spirits of the murdered stir.

As the living and the dead join forces, a supernatural reckoning begins—where faith is weaponized, vengeance awakens, and evil discovers that even death cannot protect it.

It has a global ensemble cast from the U.S., U.K., Australia, Spain, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Iran, and India, with a horror story set in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan—an uncommon, striking backdrop. It is a fresh, unpredictable story line far from typical horror clichés. There is no nudity—intense yet suitable for younger viewers, with a stylized violence without gratuitous gore, and is performed in clear, neutral English for worldwide accessibility. Another great find from Day 4 was: “El Monstruo de la Fortuna!” Launches Its Oscar® 2026 Campaign in Los Angeles: Spain’s multi-award-winning period short gives voice to a queen history tried to silence. LOS ANGELES / MADRID — November 2025.

After sweeping top honors at European festivals, El Monstruo de la Fortuna (The Monster of Fortune) has officially entered the 2026 Academy Awards® race for Best Live Action Short Film. The U.S. campaign is presented in collaboration with EGEDA USA and the Instituto Cervantes Los Angeles, including a special industry screening on November 13, 2025, followed by a Q&A with director Manuel Castillo Huber at 1640 South Sepulveda Blvd, Suite 104, Los Angeles, CA 90025.

Directed by Manuel Castillo Huber and produced by Ramón Salazar (Sunday’s Illness, Elite), the 20-minute short re-imagines the authorship of La vida es sueño through the eyes of Queen Isabel de Borbón, who secretly commissions playwright Calderón de la Barca to sign his name on her forbidden work. “As a director, I wanted to confront how women’s creativity was silenced or absorbed by history,” says Castillo Huber. “Through cinema, I could finally give Queen Isabel’s authorship back — and let her voice speak.”

An International Success Story El Monstruo de la Fortuna has screened at 25+ festivals and earned 11 major awards, including: Astorga Film Festival (Best Short Film, Best Actor, Best Screenplay), Zamora Film Festival (Best Short Film, Best Actor), Almería International Film Festival – FICAL (Best Art Direction), and the Madrid Short Film Week (Best Direction). The film also appeared on the 2025 Goya Awards shortlist and qualified for the Oscars after its U.S. premiere at the Santa Monica Film Center.

Spain’s Artistic Presence in Hollywood Produced by La Sierra Produce, in association with Quiet Productions and Elamedia Estudios, the short features a world-class team:
Clara Bilbao (Goya-winning Costume Designer), Manolo García (Oscar-nominated Make-Up Artist), and Daniela Cajías (Goya-winning Cinematographer). The campaign also partners with Women In Film, the Alliance of Women Film Journalists, and Film Fatales,
underscoring its contemporary relevance.

“This story transcends time,” adds Salazar. “It speaks to the women whose voices shaped art but were never credited — and to the filmmakers reclaiming those voices today.”
