Last night was an amazing Gala Opening Night of the 29th Annual Dances With Films LA Film Festival, with the World Premiere of “Yale,” and this was only day 1 of 11 days and nights of a very large, star-studded, and prestigious film festival with over 300 films, that even includes an incredible 36 World Premieres, that are all held at the historic, iconic, and worth famous TCL Chinese Theatre, in the Heart of Hollywood! Most films are selling out fast, so make sure you get your tickets now, or purchase an all inclusive VIP Festival Pass.
There will be so many films at this film festival, that we will need to have 3 camera crews with 5 News Reporters to attempt to cover everything for you! So we brought out our “A Team” for Entertainment & Sports Today, and Entertainment Today- left to right: Sage Stevens, Margie Rey, Steve Taylor, Jacqueline Paladino, and Doug Nolan:

This incredible Opening Night Red Carpet that was actually Orange, and had celebrities from 18 films from the first 3 days of this almost 2 week long Dances With Films: LA Film Festival. 10 of these movies made their World Premieres, and 1 made it’s North American Premiere!
So, on this show you will see interviews with The Producers, Directors, Writers, and Actors from all of these films, done by our Entertainment Today TV Show Host: Margie Rey, with more shows and news reports coming from the rest of our talented news staff!
The Opening Night movie was from Producer/Director Jay Silverman’s YALE that made it’s World Premiere, that is a very emotional and touching true story about a woman who must find and ask for help from the father who abandoned her when she was a child in order to save her son, who needs an emergency kidney transplant. The film stars Caitlin McGee, Dominic Leeder, Kevin Dunn, Benjamin Mackey, and Rachael Harris.
One of the many great benefits of Dances With Films is that immediately after the movies are over, there are introductions and Q&As put on by the Dances With Films hosts and staff with the stars of the film, and with the Producers, Directors, and Writers! Additionally some of the audience gets to ask questions, and meet the celebrities, and many of the key people from the films:

Kevin Dunn has been acting for over 40 years in big hit movies and Television series, but I remember him best when he played Joel Horneck in the Seinfeld episode “Male Unbonding” (Season 1, Episode 4). He portrayed Jerry’s overly eager and anxiety-ridden childhood friend whom Jerry attempts to break up with.
Kevin is recognized for playing memorable supporting roles in major blockbusters and classic films, including Sam Witwicky’s father in the Transformers series, Colonel Hicks in Godzilla, and Alan Reed in Dave. He is also well known for his starring and recurring television roles, playing White House Chief of Staff Ben Cafferty on HBO’s Veep, and the father in the sitcom Samantha Who?

I remember Actress & Comedian: Rachael Harris best from her 2009 role in the very successful movie comedy: The Hangover, playing Melissa, the domineering, abusive girlfriend to Ed Helms’s Co-starring role in the movie.

Caitlin McGee is an American actress. She is best known for her role as attorney Sydney Strait on the legal drama Bluff City Law. She was also a regular on the ABC comedy Home Economics.
The unbelievable true story follows Mackenzie “Mac” Mitchell (Caitlin McGee), an estranged daughter struggling with alcohol and the law. Her world is upended when her 12-year-old son (Benjamin Mackey) suffers kidney failure and needs a transplant. With zero contact for 30 years, Mac is forced to track down her deadbeat father, Yale Parker (Kevin Dunn). The reunion takes a bizarre and emotional turn when Yale reveals he has eight secret families across the country. To save her son’s life, Mac and Yale embark on an epic road trip to track down her half-siblings, uncovering family bonds along the way. The film also stars Rachael Harris and is written by Van Billet. I would 100% recommend you see this movie, as the opening night movie premiere audience were moved by it!
Eating breakfast at Berlin’s legendary club Berghain (or nearby) is a classic rite of passage. Revellers often grab a morning bite—such as an espresso martini, fruit, or a quick muffin—at the Panorama Bar, or head to Michelberger or Ostbahnhof to recharge after a weekend session. Berghain, is a legendary nightclub in Berlin, that is widely considered the world’s techno mecca. It is famous for its strict, elusive door policy, an uncompromising 48-hour continuous party, and a deeply immersive, uninhibited hedonistic atmosphere that feels worlds away from mainstream nightlife!
Now in 2026 there is a 14 minute Movie Short called “Breakfast At Berghain” that is directed by Autumn Palen making its world premiere at Dances With Films: LA 2026. The film is an EDM-themed globe-trotting coming-of-age story, produced by DWF’s Frankie Campisano, about a small-town girl takes a pilgrimage to the famed German nightclub Berghain and ends up spending years of her life in the hallowed den of drum and bass. It stars: Dominique Booth (in the below photo from the movie), Johnny Briseño, Jul Kohler, Riley Nottingham, Wylie Strout, and Jonathan Grey.

On the 2nd day of the film festival I was able to watch a very funny World Movie Premiere called: Directors’ Commentary.
In addition on opening night my Entertainment Today TV Show Host and Reporter: Margie Rey interviewed the key people from this movie, that you can see on our show. Directors’ Commentary is a charming and inventive premise that blends romance, fantasy, comedy, and a deep appreciation for independent filmmaking. The film follows Ryan, a struggling screenwriter nursing a broken heart while searching for both personal and professional direction. In an effort to reignite his creative spark, Ryan turns to one of his favorite comforts: DVD commentary tracks from the independent filmmakers he admires most. But what begins as a familiar ritual soon takes an unexpected turn when those cinematic voices seemingly come to life.
Whether real (Like: Kevin Smith), imagined (Like: George Lucas), or somewhere in between, a trio of indie filmmaking heroes suddenly enters Ryan’s world, guiding him through the unpredictable landscape of love, ambition, and self-discovery. As Ryan navigates a Hollywood fairy tale filled with unexpected twists, he finds himself confronting the question every artist eventually faces: How do you move forward when life doesn’t follow the script?
