All the A-list celebrities, and Nominees came out for The 41st Film Independent Spirit Awards, live from Hollywood!
After being held forever on the beach in Santa Monica, for the first time the Spirit Awards were held at the Hollywood Palladium, to give the Spirit Awards to the best in independent films, and documentaries, and the best TV Series, including the top indie film projects with Train Dreams winning Best Feature, Best Director (Clint Bentley), and Best Cinematography.
At the 41st Film Independent Spirit Awards (2026), “Train Dreams“ was awarded Best Feature. Directed by Clint Bentley, the Netflix-backed drama led the 2026 awards with three wins, including Best Director and Best Cinematography. The film, starring Joel Edgerton, follows a 20th-century lumberjack’s life. So, on the red carpet Margie had an in-depth interview with the Best Cinematography Spirit Award Winner: Adolpho Veloso, for: Train Dreams (Netflix) – who we meet in the After-Party @ The W Hotel Hollywood, that you can read about in our story below.
Other major winners included Rose Byrne, Naomi Ackie, and the series Adolescence. The Awards were hosted by Ego Nwodim, who is an American Actress and Comedian from Saturday Night Live, who was very funny throughout the show.

On this Documentary length one hour show, between the red carpet arrivals, and backstage awards rooms, our Entertainment Today TV Show Host: Margie Rey interviewed most of the nominees, award-winners, celebrities, and VIPs!
Margie had a some great interviews on the red carpet- where she predicted that the Actors and Actresses would win their prospective awards, so then when they did win their awards- they were surprised and very happy to see Margie again in the backstage awards room, and thanked Margie when they realized that she had correctly predicted their victory of the Spirit Award!
One of these great predictions Margie did was for the Spirit Awards winners for Best Ensemble Cast in a New Scripted Series: Chief of War (Apple TV), and award winners for: CDG Awards – Excellence in Period Television, CAS Awards – Non-Theatrical Motion Pictures Or Limited Series, MUAHS Awards – Best Period and/or Character Hair Styling & Best Period and/or Character Make-Up. Margie interviewed them on the red carpet and then again when they received the Spirit Award, in the Backstage awards room.
For Chief of War- they had a very big cast: Charlie Brumbly, Luciane Buchanan, Cliff Curtis, Brandon Finn, Moses Goods, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Benjamin Hoetjes, Siua Ikale’o, Keala Kahuanui-Paleka, Mainei Kinimaka, Kaina Makua, Jason Momoa:
Temuera Morrison, Te Kohe Tuhaka, and James Udom.
Then, afterwards in the showroom, our TV Show Host: Margie Rey, and our TV Producer: Steve Taylor, and our TV A/V Director & Cameraman: Matt Segal, all got group photos with them, as you can see all of us in the center of the above and below photos-together with these Spirit Award Winners:
In addition we were lucky enough to talk to them again throughout the amazing & fun- exclusive VIP Invite Only After-Party @ the luxurious W Hotel Hollywood, right near the Hollywood Palladium! 
Another great interview that Margie had on the red carpet- where she predicted that this Actor would win his Spirit Awards awards, was with the Best Breakthrough Performance Spirit Award Winner: Kayo Martin, for his starring role in The Plague (Independent Film Company). Kayo happy to see Margie again in the backstage awards room, and thanked Margie when he realized that she had correctly predicted their victory of the Spirit Award! So Kayo then gave Margie another great interview as he held the Trophy in his Hand, and then I got a photo with him in the showroom- right in front of the stage:

Lauren Keyana “Keke” Palmer is an American actress, singer, and television personality who has won two Primetime Emmy Awards. Keke became a star in film and television before she was old enough to drive. She charmed audiences in the 2006 movie Akeelah and the Bee as a young woman who spells her way to a national competition. Keke has also starred in the Nickelodeon sitcom True Jackson, VP, the Fox series Scream Queens, and the Epix drama series Berlin Station.
Keke Palmer released a song titled “Misunderstood” on June 19, 2025, as part of her project Just Keke. The song explores themes of vulnerability and personal growth, with lyrics highlighting the struggle of trying not to hurt others while managing her own emotions. It is part of her artistic exploration of her life and persona.

Beyond acting, she wrote the critically acclaimed audiobook Inside Voice: My Obsession with How We Sound.

Also in the backstage awards room- Margie did Q & A= Questions & Answers with the legendary actor from Star Wars fame: Mark Hamill, who was honored as part of the ensemble cast for the thriller The Long Walk that is based on Stephen King’s novel.
Mark was awarded the prestigious Robert Altman Award alongside Director Francis Lawrence and his co-stars at the 41st annual ceremony! The Robert Altman Award is a juried prize, that recognizes director, casting director, and ensemble cast, with The Long Walk being recognized as one of the best ensemble performances of the 2026 awards season.
Margie did Q & A with the great Ensemble Cast included The Long Walk Director Francis Lawrence, alongside casting director Rich Delia, as well as ensemble cast members Judy Greer, Mark Hamill, Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Tut Nyuot, Joshua Odjick, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang and Garrett Wareing.
Mark Hamill attended the ceremony at the Hollywood Palladium with his daughter, Chelsea Hamill, wearing a dark suit.

Immediately after the Spirit Awards ceremony was the the amazing, exclusive VIP- Invite Only After-Party @ the luxurious W Hotel Hollywood, right near the Hollywood Palladium:

It was a beautiful setting, using the entire first floor of the W Hotel, with a beautiful spiral staircase with a pretty DJ playing music, up in a Golden Podium in front of this staircase:
with live music, three hugh bars serving high-end drinks, with specialty drinks made up just for The Spirit Awards After-party, with very artistic long yellow tubular Chandeliers, hanging down in the main grand entry room of the party:
a photo opportunity with a backdrop and computer system that gave all the VIP After-party guests a great souvenir:
and all types of delicious food that was brought to us on silver platters, by beautiful women waitresses, and handsome men waiters, and there even was a Italian restaurant: Pizza Girl- that served all the VIP guests a whole sized pizza in a box if you asked for it! – as you can see me holding that pink box of Pizza Girl on the right of the below photo, along with Actress: Keke Palmer, who was nominated for Best Lead Performance for her starring role in One of Them Days. For this year’s awards, Train Dreams led the way in the film categories with three wins, including Best Feature, Best Director for Clint Bentley and Best Cinematography for Adolpho Veloso. Among the other films and artists honored, Rose Byrne won Best Lead Performance for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You; Sorry, Baby won Best Supporting Performance for Naomi Ackie and Best Screenplay for Eva Victor; Lurker won Best First Feature and Best First Screenplay for Alex Russell; Kayo Martin won Best Breakthrough Performance for The Plague; The Secret Agent won Best International Film; The Perfect Neighbor won Best Documentary; and Sofía Subercaseaux won Best Editing for The Testament of Ann Lee.
In the television categories, this year’s major winner was Adolescence, which won four awards, the most for any television show since the Spirit Awards began honoring the medium in 2021. Those awards included Best New Scripted Series, Best Lead Performance in a New Scripted Series for Stephen Graham, Best Supporting Performance in a New Scripted Series for Erin Doherty and Best Breakthrough Performance in a New Scripted Series for Owen Cooper. The other television winners included Pee-wee as Himself, which won Best New Non-Scripted or Documentary Series, and Chief of War, which won Best Ensemble Cast in a New Scripted Series.
The 18th annual Robert Altman Award, which was created in 2008 in honor of legendary film director Robert Altman, who was known for creating extraordinary ensemble casts, was awarded to The Long Walk director Francis Lawrence, alongside casting director Rich Delia, as well as ensemble cast members Judy Greer, Mark Hamill, Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Tut Nyuot, Joshua Odjick, Charlie Plummer, Ben Wang and Garrett Wareing.
Esta Isla (This Island) was honored with the John Cassavetes Award, given to the best feature made for under $1,000,000. Also celebrated were the previously announced honors including Tatti Ribeiro of Valentina with the Someone to Watch Award, recognizing a filmmaker of singular vision who has not yet received appropriate recognition; Rajee Samarasinghe of Your Touch Makes Others Invisible with the Truer Than Fiction Award, presented to an emerging director of non-fiction features who has yet to receive significant recognition; and Tony Yang with the Producers Award, sponsored by Producers United, honoring emerging producers who demonstrate the creativity, tenacity and vision required to produce quality independent films with limited resources.
