Earlier tonight was a very successful World Movie Premiere of: “Dave VS. HOLLYWOOD” that stars: Preston Tyler Ward, Vincent Spano, and Chloe Paige Flowers, with Eric Roberts, at the 29th Dances With Films- Film Festival, at the historic and iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Immediately after the movie I told “Dave” – Actor: Preston Tyler Ward that he made me laugh so hard that my lips hurt, and he responded: “Thanks, you really made my day!” Which made my day also, as you see him next to me, in the center and 3rd from the left of the photo, that was taken right after the movie: 
The other Co-stars who joined us in the photo are: 2nd from left: Eric Himel, who played Rembrandt- a casting agent looking for an Actor to be an “Ass Double” in a movie, that Dave auditions for- but his ass “is not right for this part!” On the extreme left of this photo is the lovely and talented Actress: Kate Robertson Pryor who excels in the role of Randi, a casting director for an acting job that Dave tries to get. All the way on the extreme right of the photo and partially cut out is Tara Marie Smith who does a good job in the role of Lea. 
Preston Tyler Ward gives a hilarious, and spectacular acting performance in DAVE vs. HOLLYWOOD, that is a mockumentary about an actor who moves to Los Angeles completely devoid of connections and contacts. The humiliations, rejections, indignities and missed opportunities pile up.
After a fruitless struggle Dave decides to make his mark by taking a non-traditional, unorthodox, “anything goes” approach – he joins AA purely to make connections; joins Scientology, purely to network; considers donating a kidney to an aging movie star: the legendary Actor: Eric Roberts, in exchange for a role in said aging star’s film; leaves his headshot and reel on the windshields of vehicles outside the Brentwood church where a funeral for a studio executive is taking place, etc. In the below photo is Preston on the Orange “red” Carpet: 
Are there any depths to which Dave won’t sink in an effort to make it in Hollywood? Will this kind of subversive approach work? DAVE vs. HOLLYWOOD may sound a bit cynical. But as Dave would say, “It’s a cynical world out there.”
Preston Tyler Ward is an American actor and comedian based in Los Angeles, best known for his roles in the hit television series Tulsa King and various independent films such as Magic Hour and The Hitcher Girl.
Veteran Actor: Vincent Spano gave another great acting performance as Phil, the Interviewer– as he is doing a Documentary on Dave trying to succeed in Hollywood as an actor. In the right of the below photo he was nice enough to pose with me on the left: 
While best known for his 1980s and 1990s roles in hits like Baby It’s You, Rumble Fish, and Alive, he remains active today, recently working on both American and Italian projects. He has maintained a steady screen presence in recent years with roles in films like Bent (2018), The Comeback Trail (2020), and the fantasy feature WonderWell. On television, he has made guest appearances on shows like Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.
The Legendary Award Winning Actor Eric Roberts, has been interviewed on our TV show a few times before, most recently when he won this years Lifetime Achievement Award on Oscar night! The 1st time we interviewed Eric on our TV show was way back in 1995! Entertainment Today’s TV Producer: Steve Taylor had met and interviewed Eric Roberts 31 Years ago in Dallas, Texas for the VSDA Convention, and as Eric did back then- he gave another great promo spot for our TV show this year! Eric Roberts’s career began with a leading roles in King of the Gypsies (1978), and Bob Fosse’s Star 80 (1983), and in Runaway Train (1985). Notable films he has appeared in include Raggedy Man (1981), The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984), The Coca-Cola Kid (1985), Best of the Best (1989), The Ambulance (1990), Final Analysis (1992), The Specialist (1994), The Cable Guy (1996), It’s My Party (1996), Cecil B. Demented (2000), National Security (2003), A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006), The Dark Knight (2008), The Expendables (2010), Lovelace (2013), Inherent Vice (2014), The Human Centipede 3 (2015), and Babylon (2022). So we were happy to see him in this year’s Dave vs. Hollywood, playing himself in a very hilarious role! 
You may recognize Chloe Paige Flowers (on the left of the above photo with me) from Dying to Marry Him (2021), and Halloween Horror Stories Vol II (2018). She gave a stellar performance as Jen – who was helping out her friend Dave to get a job as an Actor in Hollywood.

Patton Peter Oswalt is an award-winning American actor, comedian, writer, and voice actor. He’s known for his work in comedy-related film and television, and for his stand-up comedy that blends personal anecdotes with cultural commentary. Oswalt’s acting credits include The King of Queens (1998–2007), Blade: Trinity, and Magnolia. He’s also known for voicing Remy in Ratatouille and Max in The Secret Life of Pets. Patton Oswalt at a major awards show: 
Page Kennedy’s Macbeth in Compton delivers a hip-hop-infused re-imagining of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy set in 1990’s Compton. Page is the Producer, Director, Writer, and lead actor in this 19 minute music video short, and you can see him on the extreme left of the photo below, taken during the Q&A. This was a fascinating idea to have the actors talk using old English from Shakespeare’s era, with lower third subtitles that are in our current modern English from the streets- which was an absolute laugh riot, and a great story with good rap music!
Jeff Perreca’s sci-fi short Conflicting Reports has characters finding themselves in a situation described by two mysterious broadcasts. One claims that aliens have arrived and are peaceful. The other says they’re hostile invaders. The cast includes Noel Fisher, Meghan Leathers, Guillermo Diaz, and Andrew Jacobs.
Also in this block of shorts: making its world premiere is Jingbei Bai’s American Boy. The very timely drama tells the story of an undocumented Chinese immigrant, finding joy in a classic night out with his two friends, until their celebration is cut short by ICE agents. The below photo is from the Q & A that was held in the movie theater, that was held right after all the shorts were premiered from that block of films called “UNLEASHED SHORTS,” with the Producers, Writers, Actors, and Directors: 
The Dances With Films Festival: LA’s lineup of 279 films, with 150 world, North American, and U.S. Premieres, in the heart of Hollywood, and presented thirteen of its famous Orange Carpet events featuring more than 280 films and more than 1000 filmmakers, cast members, and documentary subjects being photographed and interviewed by Los Angeles press covering independent film; several panels and conversations (like a very valuable session on how to get your Film Distributed!– that I attended) led by top industry leaders and professionals, that was held in the VIP Filmmakers Lounge just above the TCL Chinese 6 Theaters- that was sponsored by Magenta Light Studios Distribution; and four days of speed-dating style press junkets over the course of the film festival’s eleven days. Setting the tone for the jam-packed film event, for the first time, Dances With Films: LA kicked things off with a pre-fest concert at Ovation Hollywood for the attending filmmakers and pass-holders.
Notable attendees included Cody Christian, Rachel Leigh Cook, Rudy Diaz, Kevin Dunn, Jesse Garcia, Racheal Harris, Esai Morales, Sonja O’Hara, Cheri Oteri, Michael Paré, Michael Rooker, Brandon Routh, Jean Smart, Jess Weixler, and Rainn Wilson!
