I was lucky enough to get tickets with great seats in front of the stage, from the sponsor: Valley View Casino & Hotel, for my friends to watch an incredible live concert that had been sold out for 4 months: The Clint Black 35th Anniversary of Killin’ Time Tour, on Shelter Island, San Diego at the beautiful and scenic Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay.
This was an incredible almost 3 hour long concert, with an amazing performance by Country Music Superstar: Clint BlackEveryone in the audience of this sold out concert, had a great time, and many were singing along to the words of the many hit songs that Clint performed during this concert, all in his musical historical chronological order. In addition Clint had some great stories to tell everyone. This is a great concert experience that we will always remember!
Clint may have been born in New Jersey, but grew up in Katy, Texas, and has wrote for, worked with, or has performed with some of the greatest Country Music Superstar Singers of all time, including: the legendary Roy Rogers, Randy Travis, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, George Strait, and also from Texas: Willie Nelson, and singer, songwriter, and actor: Kristoffer Kristofferson, who had just died only 3 weeks ago on September 28th, 2024 in Hawaii.
Clint’s wife is the beautiful Actress & Singer: Lisa Hartman Black, from Houston, Texas. Lisa and Clint met backstage at one of his concerts in Houston, Texas, in 1990. “I didn’t know who she was,” Clint told PEOPLE, “but when I saw her standing there with those beautiful blue eyes, I knew I wanted to see her again.” It was actual “love at first sight” so they married shortly after that- the very next year!  In 2018, Lisa turned age 62, which is Clint’s birth year (1962), and Clint turned age 56, which is Lisa’s birth year (1956)! –  there is a lot of coincidences between this famous couple and me, as you can read about below!
I was able to meet them both at showbiz events in Hollywood, and at The 41st Annual Grammy Awards on February 24, 1999, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, where Clint happened to be one of the onstage performers/presenters, and by coincidence I was at the right place at the right time- at the Grammy Official After-Party, where I was lucky enough to met both Clint and Lisa, who were both nice enough to pose for a photo with me! L – R: Clint Black, Lisa Hartman, and TV Producer Steve Taylor:
Lisa gained major prominence after her role in the successful Emmy Winning, hit prime time television soap opera/drama: “Knots Landing” from 1982 to 1986. Knots Landing aired on CBS for 14 seasons– from December 27, 1979, to May 13, 1993, as a spin-off of Dallas.” By the time of its conclusion, it had become the third-longest-running prime time drama on U.S. television after Gunsmoke and Bonanza! Over those 14 years this show had a “Star-Studded” cast of about 100 big name Actors! I was able to meet Lisa again, on location when she was filming Knots Landing:
As you can see in that above photo- the scene that the Knots Landing TV show was filming that day was set in a Cemetery, to create a segment where the preacher played by- at the time a young Actor by the name of Alec Baldwin, who went on to great fame in movies and TV, and he is on TV a lot, and is currently in the news quite often, and by a strange coincidence they were filming his funeral service! and he is in the casket!  Also by another funny coincidence Lisa Hartman’s character: Ciji Dunne was dating Alec’s Preacher character: Joshua Rush on this show! During Alec’s break from filming Knots Landing on location- on another day, and only after we had just first met, by coincidence he happened to have a football in his hands, so he suggested that we have a football catch, which was really a lot of fun, as you can see in the photo below: Also at this funeral service scene was the award winning Actress: Donna Mills, who played the role of the manipulative vixen Abby Cunningham on this show, and you can see her posing for a photo with me, on the same day when I met Lisa on location at the same funeral service scene:  Lisa recorded four solo albums between 1976 and 1987, with her most notable song being “If Love Must Go”. She achieved significant success with a duet with her husband, Clint Black, called “When I Said I Do”, which reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts in 1999. Lisa has appeared in various films and TV shows, including Flicka: Country Pride, Back to You and Me, and The Masked Singer. She married musician Clint Black in 1991, and the couple has a daughter, Lily Pearl Black. They have lived in Nashville, Tennessee, since 2002.
Clint Patrick Black (born February 4, 1962) is an American country music singer, songwriter, musician, actor, and record producer. Signed to RCA Nashville in 1989, his debut album Killin’ Time produced four straight number one singles on the US Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. Clint consistently charted hit songs into the 2000s. He has had more than 30 singles on the US Billboard country charts, twenty-two of which have reached number one, in addition to having released twelve studio albums and several compilation albums. In 2003, Clint founded his own record label, Equity Music Group, and has also ventured into acting, having made appearances in a 1993 episode of the TV series Wings and in the 1994 film Maverick (which he showed video clips from during this concert, and I used this promotional movie musical video on our TV show for our music video, for an NFL Football game between The Raiders & New Orleans Saints!) as well as a starring role in 1998’s Still Holding On: The Legend of Cadillac Jack.
Clint has been nominated for 4 Grammy Awards for best Country Male Vocal Performance (1990 – “Killin’ Time”, 1997 – “Like the Rain”, 1998 – “Something That We Do”, 1999 – “Nothin’ but the Taillights”), he was also nominated for 6 Grammy Awards with 1 win in the category of Best Country Collaboration with Vocals – “Hold On Partner” in 1991 (w/ Roy Rogers), “A Bad Goodbye” in 1993 (w/ Wynonna), “Still Holding On” in 1997 (w/ Martina McBride), “Same Old Train” in 1998 which got the Grammy Award (with Joe Diffie, Merle Haggard, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss, Patty Loveless, Earl Scruggs, Ricky Skaggs, Marty Stuart, Pam Tillis, Randy Travis, Travis Tritt & Dwight Yoakam), “When I Said I Do” in 1999 (with his wife Lisa Hartman Black), and “Hey Good Lookin'” in 2004 (Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, and George Strait).
The opening act went for about 30 minutes, with a great performance by country singer: Cody Carter who got everyone ready for a night of country music with Clint Black, and gave another great performance at the after-party at Backstage Live next door:
All of my friends had great seats to see a great country music Superstar: Clint Black, and so I wanted to thank Valley View Casino for pulling through with a last second miracle with VIP tickets to an event that we all will never forget! Here we are right by the stage after the show:
