It was an amazing night with Gladys Knight– the Music Legend, who gave an amazing live concert performance at Harrah’s Resort & Casino Southern California. At 80 years old she still has a beautiful voice, that the sold out audience loved, and sang along to some of her many classic hit songs!

On this show our Entertainment Today TV Show Host Margie Rey, and Entertainment Reporter Renee Esebag got to interview this music legend at The Elton John Oscar Viewing Party, and got the rare opportunity to sing along with Gladys Knight, on one of her big classic songs: “That’s What Friends Are For,” that Gladys performed with Dionne Warwick, Stevie Wonder, and Elton John for the 1985 AIDS benefit!

Gladys used this song in her finale of this concert- it was the second to last song of this special concert, with the last song being her mega-hit: “Midnight Train to Georgia.” So sit back and enjoy this show! Gladys Maria Knight, was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1944 on May 28, so she is now 80 years old. Gladys was the lead singer of the popular rhythm-and-blues group Gladys Knight & the Pips, which included her brother and cousins. She also established a successful solo career in both R&B and gospel music. Gladys Knight recorded hits through the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s with her family group Gladys Knight & the Pips, which included her brother Merald “Bubba” Knight and cousins William Guest and Edward Patten. She has won seven Grammy Awards (four as a solo artist and three with the Pips), and is often referred to as the “Empress of Soul”.

In 1989, Knight recorded the theme song for the James Bond film Licence to Kill. In the below photo Knight performs at the White House, in 2024.
