Natalie Merchant’s Keep Your Courage National Concert Tour at the beautiful and scenic Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay in San Diego, Sponsored by Valley View Casino & Hotel, was a big success with the sold-out audience singing all the words to her hit songs, and up on their feet dancing, and having a great time! Natalie had always been a big success, including when she started out with 10,000 Maniacs.

Natalie encouraged her many fans to come down in front of the stage to dance, but she was so concerned that those people would block the view of the people sitting in the first row, so she asked those people sitting in the first row for their permission: “I don’t want to block the view of the rich people sitting in the first row . . . . So is it okay? . . . Oh my God I am crying . . . I don’t want you to think that I am another Judy Garland” – she was actually crying!

She promised to do “just 1 song with people dancing in front of the stage” but then said she would  “do 3 or 4 more songs” and said she “was emotionally drained ” but she just keep going-  singing with her beautiful voice for almost another hour longer- making her epic concert almost 3 hours long! The whole audience was up on their feet yelling with joy, singing and dancing- having a special concert experience they will always remember!
My friend and I were one of those people dancing and singing right in front of the stage, even though we had great 4th row seats only a few feet from the stage, so this way we were so close to Natalie that she was able to shake our hands!
Therefore, on this show you will see some great video clips from this amazing concert filmed only a few feet from Natalie Merchant- so close as if she was singing for you – at your home in your leaving room! So enjoy the show, and there will be many more concerts coming up soon, so stay tuned to Entertainment Today and Entertainment & Sports Today.
Natalie Anne Merchant (October 26, 1963) is an American singer-songwriter born in Jamestown, New York. She started singing and writing songs with the band 10,000 Maniacs in 1981. She stayed with the band for their first seven albums till she went solo in 1993. Since then, she’s recorded nine albums under her name.
Tigerlily is the debut studio album by Natalie released on June 20, 1995, following her departure from the alternative rock band 10,000 Maniacs. Tigerlily was a critical and commercial success, spawning her first top-ten hit in the single “Carnival”, and achieving top-40 success with subsequent singles “Wonder” and “Jealousy”. The album would go on to sell over five million copies, and continues to be her most successful album to date.

In a “conversation” with her daughter throughout the “first six years of her life,” Merchant was inspired to write Leave Your Sleep, released on April 13, 2010. The album opened at No. 17 on the Billboard Top 200, No. 1 on Amazon.com, and No. 3 on iTunes. Andres Levin assisted in the production of the record.

Merchant launched her debut self-titled studio album in February 2014. All of the songs on the CD are brand new. Since Motherland in 2001, this is her first album of new material. The Daily Telegraph selected Natalie Merchant, published on Nonesuch Records on May 6, 2014, as Album of the Week.

For the week of May 24, 2014, the album debuted at position #20 on Billboard’s Top 200 album list and at position #2 on Billboard’s Folk Albums chart. Butterfly, Merchant’s 2017 album, is a compilation of new songs and symphonic arrangements of old favorites.

Merchant confirmed the April 14, 2023, release of Keep Your Courage, her eighth studio album, on November 29, 2022. The album was sent out to the public by Nonesuch Records. Natalie Merchant’s 2014 self-titled album was the last time she released new music.

Natalie Merchant has an inherently warm, and empathetic voice that is full of ambitious musical passages, thoughtful lyrics, and fantastic vocal performances centered on the need for love and meaningful human connection. The is a cohesive, eternal quality of her ability to weave romantic, folk-rock ballads rich with organ, brass, and tidal waves of strings all anchored to simple piano melodies, which celebrates compassion, empathy, and inspiration, while being stately and sober.
