Kenya goes 1, 3, & 5 in LA Marathon’s iconic “Stadium to the Sea” course


World Class runners from Kenya take 1st, 3rd, and 5th in The LA Marathon’s iconic “Stadium to the Sea” course .  In a very close race that went down to the very last 1/4 mile: Kenyan- Weldon Kirui – The 2016 men’s champion-(Below photos on right of Weldon -right after crossing the finish line in a time of 2:11:47- as all the media take his photo and congratulate him on a great race) : Inline image

 . . .beat out by 10 seconds Gebresadik Adihana from Ethiopia , with Weldon’s teammate from Kenya-  Elisha Barno – The 2017 men’s champion – finished third with a time of 2:12:14, and the 3rd Kenyan in the top ten: Daniel Limo – who won in The LA Marathon in 2015- finished 5th in 2:17:03 !Inline image

Weldon Kirui who had led the pack, battled Gebresadik Adihana throughout the last several miles of the race and pulled ahead decisively at mile 24, which made it an exciting race ! So check out our feature video of the exciting finish of this race.Inline image

24,000 Runners, that included the  70 “Elite” – the above mentioned World and Olympic runners, ran from LA Dodger Stadium – to The Santa Monica Beach area on Ocean and California, to complete the iconic “Stadium to the Sea” course. This included as in the photo above- 3 Elvis runners / “Elvi”, and Marilyn Monroe- who ran together the whole way, and below photo of a person dressed as a FlamingoInline image

There was live entertainment, including more than 50 bands, 500 cheerleaders, 4 entertainment centers and 90 cheer zones set the stage for an exciting day.
