This is a follow up to our news story that we did just 4 days ago:  “Neil Diamond gives Coronavirus advice while playing ‘Sweet Caroline’ – from my recent 61st. Birthday Party, when some of my guests sang “Sweet Caroline” to the owner of the biggest Carvel Ice Cream store franchise on the West Coast – my friend Steve’s 7 year old daughter: Caroline. You can view this video at the very end of this story below- the very last video on the bottom, or copy and paste to your computer:
Make sure you watch our featured video from CNN, and all the videos at the end of this story below, so that you can see the great emotions from millions of people for “Sweet Caroline” as everyone is pulling together to fight this deadly virus!
This true story just keeps growing and gets bigger and bigger, with great momentum and amazing coincidences it has parlayed up to a national news story on CNN – with advice from music legend Neil Diamond – on the Coronavirus – using Neil’s iconic hit song “Sweet Caroline” as he wrote and sang a new version that has now gone viral!
1)  It all started about 5 weeks ago at my 61st. Birthday Party when I had announced to everyone that: Carvel Ice Cream Store Owner- my friend Steve’s 7 year old daughter: Caroline – was named after Neil Diamond’s hit song: “Sweet Caroline”  . . . . . .
2)  Then one of my Entertainment Reporters: Jacqueline Murphy – who is always very positive and enthusiastic – started to get some of my other guests to sing a few of the words to “Sweet Caroline” right there at the party ! To be honest I was just letting everyone know about “Sweet Caroline” – but I may not have thought to actually sing that song. So if it was not for Jacqueline’s great enthusiasm- that song may never have been sung at my Birthday party. Jacqueline really shined that day! If everyone was as positive as Jackie we would all live in a better world!
3) The great enthusiasm, positivity and good powerful words that was put out there- must have reached Neil Diamond– since in a very short time after we sang his song- he started to re-write the words to his iconic hit “Sweet Caroline” ! Neil lives in Beverly Hills – not too far from where the party was held. This glowing positive energy was put out into the world – that I really feel that all of that love could really make a big difference for the better!
4)  So I think that Neil heard us all singing, and wrote a new version of his epic song as a PSA for the Coronavirus, to give us advice while playing ‘Sweet Caroline’ in his house :  “Hands… washing hands”  . . . “Reaching out, don’t touch me, I won’t touch you”  … “Sweet Caroline – Good times never seemed so good
I’ve been inclined -To believe they never would – Oh, no, no” . . . .
5) This new version of “Sweet Caroline” performed by Neil Diamond goes viral on YouTube and Social Media, and the story get’s picked up by our 2 shows- Entertainment Today and Entertainment & Sports Today, and many local and national news outlets, including CBS, NBC, KTNV Channel 13 Las Vegas, and CNN  . . . . .
6) This story grows, builds up big with great momentum, and becomes an unstoppable force that goes nationwide! This New Neil Diamond song inspires millions across our country!
7) In Boston and in major cities across our country- people inside their own homes – sing together this new version of “Sweet Caroline” on the internet. In this video you can see people sing from their balconies- with such great emotions! Just copy and paste it from the link below on your computer, Or you can view it at the very end of this story below, the 4th from the very last video of this story.
8)  Quarantined San Francisco Neighbors Sing ‘Sweet Caroline,’ Joined By Thousands On Facebook! On KPIX CBS SF Bay Area:  “Quarantined but determined to keep upbeat, thousands of people stuck inside their homes because of the coronavirus sang together Thursday evening. (3-19-2020)”  This may seem to you just too unbelievable to be true, and may seem like a scene from a good movie- but it’s all real- so you can see for yourself this amazing act of love, with the highest levels of emotions to stop this virus in the below YouTube video. Just copy and paste it from the link below. You can also view this video at the very end of this story below, the 5th from the very last video at the bottom.
 9)  My friend Steve – the father of “Sweet Caroline” makes a Carvel Ice Cream Cake for Neil Diamondwith the new words to the song on it. Steve sends it to Neil’s House in Beverly Hills. Neil loves the cake – since he loves Steve’s Carvel Ice Cream so much ! Below is a photo of that actual cake:
10)  CNN picks up this story and goes national- with a story about Neil Diamond’s new song- as in our previous news story, and a segment in their national TV Broadcast about Steve’s cake and those magical new words from the new version of Neil’s iconic song ” Sweet Caroline”. Below is a still photo of Steve’s Carvel Cake from that Live CNN TV Broadcast, – that was from Katie Diamond as she posted it on her Twitter account which ended up on CNN:
Below: In a letter from Steve to me- here are the rest of the details as told story in the 3rd person:
“Neil Diamond transforms a song and receives a cake at his house on Sunday
March 22, 2020:
Local LA Carvel store owner gets inspired by Neil Diamond who transforms
“Sweet Caroline” into a Coronavirus PSA.  The owner(my friend Steve) is a Neil Diamond fan who named one of his daughters Caroline after the song.  He had a chance to tell
Neil Diamond he named his daughter after the song on one of Neil’s visits to
his store in West Los Angeles.  Neil is a fan of the vanilla soft serve and
the ice cream sandwiches when he stops by the store.  Today the song moved
the owner and the cake was delivered and accepted by Katie Diamond.”
A word from the author of this story- Steve Taylor: The other daughter of my friend Steve -is little 9 year old Sarah- the big sister to 7 year old “Sweet Caroline”. The problem is that when people sing “Sweet Caroline” – little Sarah does not get any attention, which makes little Sarah sad. The only 4 other songs that have “Sarah” in it are : Panic! At the Disco’s “Sarah Smiles” , Daryl Hall & John Oates – Hall & Oates’s ” Sara Smile” , Starship’s “Sara”, and Fleetwood Mac’s “Sara”. However, people are never as enthusiastic about any of the “Sarah” songs as they are about “Sweet Caroline” – as you can see in each of the videos in this news story. So maybe Neil Diamond can write a new song for little Sarah?
At a Neil Diamond Concert (above photo) back on Tuesday 8/8/17 in San Diego Steve took his wife and 2 daughters: 6 year old Sarah Winick (Google her name for more stories on Sarah on our show- Entertainment & Sports Today – that includes 2012 Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney), and 4 year old “Sweet Caroline” with him to bring Carvel Ice Cream Sandwiches to his favorite customer: Neil Diamond, which got his kids in. He was told that since he was able to control them, that he is the world’s best parent! It took a concert for him to hear those words. Steve was given VIP Band seats right in the middle and right in front of the stage, and when Neil Diamond performed his classic song “Sweet Caroline” – he was looking directly at Steve and little 4 year old Caroline, and acknowledged them during that song, as Steve was tossing Caroline into the air! This was Neil’s very last concert in San Diego(see above photo taken by Steve from right in front of the stage). See photo below from this concert of – L – R: Sarah, Steve, and little “Sweet Caroline” in their Band seats :
& now back to Carvel Steve Winick’s story: “I am open and staying 6 feet away from anybody and washing hands before and after every transaction.  But just sitting in the store and watching TV and seeing my cake on CNN today was great.”
The whole news segment video Link is 2:00 long total, and the Carvel cake is between 1:46 to 1:51 :

Now a look back 10 years ago to Neil Diamond at full strength at a baseball game where the New York Yankees were in Boston to play against the Boston Red Sox on 4/4/2010 where “Neil Diamond sings ‘Sweet Caroline’ live during the middle of the eighth inning at Fenway Park”  In this video you can see all the great emotions for Neil Diamond when he performed “Sweet Caroline”  to a sold out stadium of 37,755 fans who were lucky enough to be at Fenway Park for this game!  Watch when the camera pans the crowds- how 1000s of people jump up to sing the words to “Sweet Caroline” as Neil points to them! This is a great emotion packed video that you can view at the very end of this story below- the 3rd from the very last video, or copy and paste:
Now to sum up this unbelievable but true story: The Executive Producer of Entertainment Today and Entertainment & Sports Today, and author of this story: Steve Taylor :
I know that some of you may have your doubts about this story, and some may think I may have exaggerated, so just check out our last story, and the above and below videos and photos to see for yourself. Some of you may just believe this story to be NOT true at all, and a few of you may ask me: ” Steve this story is just too unbelievable, it couldn’t ever have happened, it’s impossible, it’s like something out of a movie, – there is no way that this song was sung at your birthday party because your friend’s daughter Caroline is NOT “Sweet Caroline” as in Neil Diamond’s song, then no way that right after your birthday did Neil Diamond himself rewrite the words to his song for the Virus, then it went viral, then people all over the USA sang this song, and then no way did your friend make a Carvel Ice Cream Cake with the exact same words to this new song and send it to Neil Diamond’s House in Beverly Hills, and he loved it- and then this was Broadcast in the national news- about this song and this cake . . you have to be making all of this up with a wild imagination . . impossible !!”
Impossible you say ? Or just the mother of all coincidences?  Well believe it or not it’s all true ! In our featured video you can see the whole CNN news segment, with the whole story about the new version of this song, and people all across the country getting inspired to sing this song, the song going viral on social media, the story being covered by the national and local media, and the most unbelievable part of all: this Carvel Ice Cream Cake with the exact new words to the new version of Neil Diamond’s song ending up in Neil Diamond’s House in Beverly Hills as he sings his new song for the whole world to hear – “Sweet Caroline” – for which my friend’s daughter was named after, as I had announced to 24 of my Birthday Party guests – who could be a witness to this – and who had sang this song- 5 weeks ago when this all started ! All of this you will be able to see in this short video news segment from CNN, and the other videos at the bottom of this story. Sometimes real life could be more unbelievable than fiction you see in the movies or on TV!
Needless to say- I would like all of you to visit my friend’s Carvel Ice Cream store on Santa Monica Blvd. – 2 blocks East of the 405 Freeway – so that you too can order (to go) this exact same cake as Neil Diamond got- and if your lucky you may even meet little “Sweet Caroline” herself who started this whole thing! Just tell tell’em Steve Taylor sent you.
As many across our country already have- I hope you too are inspired by this true and inspirational story and Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” song, and from the safety of your own homes- get up and sing this song- and let us all sing together to stop this virus dead in it’s tracks, and pray that everything gets back to normal – fast !  God Bless Us All !
A very special thanks to: our reporter Jacqueline Murphy for her positive energy and great enthusiasm to get my Birthday Party guests to start to sing along to “Sweet Caroline” , To Steve for his great Carvel Ice Cream Cake, to my guest’s at my party that sang “Sweet Caroline” and all the people across our country that sang “Sweet Caroline”, to all the news outlets that covered and promoted this great story, to our friend and Music Legend: Neil Diamond for rewriting a new version of his song: “Sweet Caroline” and for loving Carvel Ice Cream, and being the inspiration to start this whole amazing story, and the inspiration for millions of people across our country to sing “Sweet Caroline” and to be positive and beat this virus, and most importantly little 7 year old Caroline who was named after Neil Diamond’s song “Sweet Caroline”, and is the little girl at my Birthday Party- that was the reason why we started to sing “Sweet Caroline” to start this amazing story and a big momentum in a snowball of positive energy to inspire us all to be happy, positive everyday, and move forward to stop this terrible virus with love and prayer! In the below photo are some of the people that we talked about in this story that were at my 61st. Birthday Party. The photo was taken by Steve who is the father of Caroline. (L -R) Karen: the mother – holding up the one and the only little “Sweet Caroline” herself, her big sister Sarah in the white shirt, me- Steve Taylor- with my Birthday cake, Jacqueline- who started us singing “Sweet Caroline”:
For those of you reading this, and watching this video- you may be inspired to sing the original song- so here are all the words, and check out all the great videos below:
“Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond:

Where it began
I can’t begin to knowin’
But then I know it’s growing strong

Was in the spring
And spring became the summer
Who’d have believed you’d come along

Hands, touchin’ hands
Reachin’ out
Touchin’ me
Touchin’ you

Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I’ve been inclined
To believe they never would

But now I
Look at the night
And it don’t seem so lonely
We fill it up with only two
And when I hurt
Hurtin’ runs off my shoulders
How can I hurt when I’m with you

Warm, touchin’ warm
Reachin’ out
Touchin’ me
Touchin’ you

Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I’ve been inclined
To believe they never would
Oh, no, no

Sweet Caroline
Good times never seemed so good
I’ve been inclined
To believe they never would
Sweet Caroline

The below video is from a news story about why The Boston Red Sox always play “Sweet Caroline” at all of their home baseball games. At 1:42 into this video you can see from the back my friend Steve holding up his daughter during the game as they are playing “Sweet Caroline” !!!! Don’t blink cause it’s only for 2 seconds- from 1:42 to 1:44. Steve is wearing a Red & White striped shirt as he is holding up his daughter- and pointing to her as they sing “Sweet Caroline”. The shot is from the 1st. base home field side of the Stadium in Boston. I found this video online as I was searching for more stories and videos about the current Coronavirus, and how people are pulling together in spirit by singing Neil Diamond’s new version of his song “Sweet Caroline” which is his PSA of advice for this virus, that went Viral on the internet and social media. These amazing coincidences keep happening and keep getting bigger and bigger! . . . . .
